About Me

My name is Colin Matti, I am from Ontario, Canada, and I am currently a full stack developer at Shopify.

I grew up in Cambridge, Ontario, and for a couple years in Meerhout, Belgium. Ever since I was a kid, I have always been interested in technology and my parents recognized this early on. They signed me up for an online web development bootcamp when I was in grade 6, and I have been hooked ever since. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I created my own side business creating websites for small to medium sized businesses in my area.

I then went on to study Computer Science at Carleton University in Ottawa. I was fortunate enough to be admitted into Shopify's prestigious Dev Degree program, where I was able to work part time as an intern at Shopify during the 4 years I was in university. In my free time, I love listening and playing music. I play the guitar and the piano. I'm a big Rock/Classic Rock and Country fan. I've been to over 300 concerts, and I've seen some of my favorite artists like the Tragically Hip, Foo Fighters, Zach Bryan, and many more. I'm also a big sports guy, I grew up playing soccer and basketball and still play soccer today. I watch a lot of sports - I'm a big San Jose Sharks, Green Bay Packers, Manchester United, and KNVB (Dutch soccer) fan. Traveling is another one of my passions and I hope to visit every country at some point in my life.

Here is the place where I would say that I'm a fast learner, great communicator and leader while having a passion for building AI solutions, but no one wants to hear that. And I could just make that up, so I'll save the effort.
